Song of Spring

Every year, as the biting chill of winter finally begins its retreat, I find myself pausing to catch that first, unmistakable scent of damp earth. There is something deeply moving about the way the Shimul trees suddenly erupt in vibrant crimson. To me, Spring has always felt personal. It is far more than a mere shift in the weather; it is a profound awakening of the human spirit.

This year, that transition feels particularly poetic. I recently came across a soul-stirring rhyme titled "Bosonter Gaan" (The Song of Spring), penned by the gifted writer and poet Hossain Mohammed Murad Meah. His words don’t just describe the season- they invite us to live it.

Have you ever stopped to notice how your entire perspective shifts when the first tiny buds appear on a branch that looked dead just weeks ago? I’ve long believed that nature serves as a perfect mirror for our internal lives. Just as trees must shed their brittle, withered leaves to make space for fresh growth, we too are given a recurring chance to let go of the weights we carry.

In his latest work, Murad Meah captures this synergy with remarkable grace. He frames Spring as a "call to action"- a gentle but firm reminder to move past old grudges and choose a life rooted in truth and genuine joy. His writing acts as a bridge, connecting the vivid beauty of the natural world with our quiet, inner search for peace.

Song of Spring (Bosonter Gaan)

By Hossain Mohammed Murad Meah

A crimson smile warms the Shimul bough,

Bright colors dance through the Palash grove,

Spring has flung its gates wide open now,

To the rhythmic beat of nature’s love.

Casting aside its wintry shroud,

The earth awakes in shades of green,

Old sorrows vanish like a passing cloud,

And a clearer, brighter grace is seen.

The cuckoo trills its "ku-oo" song,

Deep in the banyan's cooling shade,

My heart joins in, feeling free and strong,

Where golden beams of light are laid.

The season of falling leaves is through,

It’s time for every hidden bud to bloom,

Nature wears her emerald gown anew,

To sweep away the last of winter’s gloom.

Let a spark of life begin to burn,

Within the weary and the dry of mind,

Let the healing song of Spring return,

To fill the empty spaces left behind.

May the tides of love wash every soul,

Clearing the stains of hate and spite,

Let us walk toward a future whole,

Bathed in the glow of morning light.

A Message for Modern Living

In today’s relentless, fast-paced world, it is all too easy to get trapped in a "winter of the mind"- a repetitive cycle of stress, burnout, and lingering anxieties. Murad Meah’s poetry serves as a soft nudge to wake up and look around. Using the melody of the cuckoo and the warmth of the sun as metaphors, he reminds us that life isn't just something to endure, but something to be lived with passion.

The core message is simple: step out of the shadows of narrow thinking and embrace the vast, colorful beauty of existence.
